Scotland's life sciences community celebrated

Over 700 people attended the 2012 Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Awards to celebrate achievement in a thriving Scottish industry.
The award winners were:
- Best New Life Sciences Company in Scotland - Select Pharma Laboratories Ltd
- Innovation Award - UWI Technology Ltd
- Life science Business Leadership - Optos Plc
- Outstanding Contribution to the Growth of Scottish Life Sciences - Kevin Moore OBE
- Scottish Health Innovations Limited (SHIL) for best innovation originating in NHS Scotlan - Professor Alan Johnstone, NHS Grampian
- Special Recognition Award - Professor Anne Glover, Chief Scientific Adviser to the President of the European Commission
The awards are designed to celebrate the achievement of companies and individuals and to recognise the work being done to further develop a sustainable life sciences industry in Scotland.
Life sciences is a major contributor to the Scottish economy and the Scottish life sciences community is seeing greater translation of its world-class research into commercial prospects that are attractive to inward investors and export markets.
