Job summary

An efficient and enthusiastic Technician is required to help an exciting startup company develop a novel vertical axis wind turbine. The candidate will be testing prototype turbines and electrical generators.

Job Description

The job involves:

• Operation of wind turbine mechanical test rig.
• Operation of electrical generator test rig.
• Construction of prototype wind turbine.
• Installation of prototype at test site.
• Testing of prototype, analysing and reporting results.
• Construction and operation of laboratory test rigs.
• Contribute to improvement of design for performance, outdoor survival, reliability and lifetime.
• Assist with manufacturing setup.
• Interaction with senior mechanical and electrical engineers.

Skills / Experience

• Electro-mechanical engineering experience.
• Systematic testing experience.
• Manufacturing and quality systems.
• Rotating equipment.
• Renewable energy, particularly wind.

Qualifications

Qualification and/or experience in an engineering discipline.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment is essential, and experience of rotating machinery and outdoor equipment would be advantageous.
