Job Description
The Analyst will be a power systems engineer able to deliver power systems analysis studies and assist in the development and deployment of our products, such as our expanding range of Active Network Management solutions.
The Smart Grid Analyst will have the following responsibilities:

Delivery of power systems analysis studies as well as leading the testing and development of new power systems analysis tools and capabilities. Testing and training colleagues on the use of different tools for different types of analysis, including PSSE, IPSA, PowerFactory, Matlab Simulink, Alternative Transients Program and OpenDSS.

Providing technology leadership in the trial and development of our products. This will require collaboration with external researchers, involvement in internal software development and contact with clients to understand their requirements and business case for investment.

Working to define and direct future phases of the company's s development. This requires knowledge of latest research, development and trial activities in the domain and identifying opportunities consistent with our capabilities, platforms and target markets.

Liaise with product and service providers to develop new applications based on client requirements.

Attend client meetings and maintain communication at all stages of product development.

Support new services in power systems analysis and contract research and development and their presentation to potential clients or funding bodies.

Preparation of system functional specifications for the company's products.

Delivery of R&D projects to deploy additional Active Network Management functionality to the company's product range.

Produce publications for high-profile journals and international conferences to reinforce the position of the company as the technology leader and to generate sales opportunities.

Provide on-going technical support for the company's deployments.

Ensuring all client projects are delivered to the highest health and safety standard and ensuring compliance with all health and safety legislation.

Monitoring and reporting on project progress, profitability and risks.

Preparing relevant papers for the Management Board and Directors as required.
Remuneration
Highly competitive salary + bonus of up to 10% of salary + 7.5% matched pension contributions + opportunity to participate in share option scheme.

Skills / Experience
Required Technical/Personal Skills
We are looking for a committed, energetic and self-motivated candidate who has the following essential attributes:

BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng in Electrical Engineering, Computing Science or other similar discipline and demonstrate

Power systems modelling, simulation and analysis experience
-
Detailed knowledge of power systems analysis packages (at least one from PSSE, IPSA or PowerFactory together with experience of scripting and interfacing languages such as Python)

An understanding of grid connection issues

Excellent report writing skills

Strong problem solving skills

Strong analytical and presentation skills
In addition to the essential attributes, an exceptional candidate would have:

MPhil or PhD and an interest in industrially relevant research and development

Experience of platforms, methodologies and languages utilised in modern Industrial Control and Automation applications

Experience of current and emerging technologies that blend ICT, Supervisory Control, Power Systems, Building Management and Intelligent Devices in the context of future Smart Grids control systems (SCADA, DMS, EMS), automation platforms (Logic controllers, automation controllers, industrial PCs) and power system communications and protocols (DNP3, MODBUD, IEC61850)
