Job summary

The Pier Arts Centre in Stromness, Orkney is recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month project to develop the on-line presence of the Centre in three key areas: programme, education and marketing as well as engaging new audiences through social media platforms.

Job Description

The project will encompass the development of a wide range of digitally-based interpretative resources and marketing and retail initiatives for on-line delivery as well as enhancing and extending the visitor experience to the gallery.

The intention is to create web-user friendly content of a high quality that is informative, stimulating, attractive and imaginative.

In the delivery of the project, the successful graduate will work across key areas of the Pier Arts Centre’s core activity – Collection and Exhibitions, Education, Audience Development and Marketing and Retail to develop a full package of resources and initiatives for digital audience engagement.

The project is also intended to extend the marketing and trading reach of the Pier Arts Centre through web and social networking development. The Centre’s use of social media platforms is currently under utilised and there is a clear opportunity to attract new audiences and promote the gallery and its activities through innovative on-line activity. Similarly the use of e-commerce and the development of an on-line shop would increase the trading activity of the organisation.

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.
