Migration Advisory Committee
The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) provides advice to the UK Government on where shortages exist in skilled occupations that can be filled by workers from overseas. Occupations on this list have priority in the monthly allocation of Certificates of Sponsorship to employers under Tier 2 of the points based immigration system.
There are two Shortage Occupation Lists - one for the UK and one for Scotland. If a job is on either of the lists it makes the process easier for both employers and employees if you want to sponsor someone under Tier 2.
