DUFI Art
DUFI Art's artistic expertise received a boost when Quantity Surveying and History of Art graduate John Sherlock joined them in October 2010. Partner Fin Mcrae reflects on what difference John has made.
What is your company background?
DUFI Art Ltd (DUFI) was established as a Limited company in September 2009 after running as a partnership for three years. DUFI works with a wide range of businesses in both the private and public sectors and offer creative solutions to clients through a variety of media. We are also heavily involved in Public Art, with commissions being undertaken in Derby, Greenock, West Lothian and Glasgow.
DUFI is in a unique position in the Highlands as it is the only company in the Scotland providing this wide range of joined up creative services. One of our latest projects is the temporary art work at John O'Groats.
How have you benefited from employing a graduate in your business?
We are creatives and we identified the need to find a "manager" who could find work and programme events for us. Having Jonny has freed up a lot of time that we would have spent on the organisation of the business.
What project does the graduate work on?
Jonny has spent time working on our scheduling and also on the way we identify possible jobs to tender for. His main project is to implement a project management strategy and assist in the restructure of the business.
What knowledge and skills has Jonny brought to your organisation?
Jonny has brought an understanding of planning, project management, tendering, costings and design awareness to the business together with an appreciation of budgeting.
