Redpath Construction
What is your company background?
Redpath Construction is a Regional Building Contractor in the central belt of Scotland, we started trading in September 2008.
Why did you choose to take on a graduate placement?
We had a need for a resource to assist in our Business Development Department, in particular to assist in the preparation and submission of PQQs. My view was that we did not need a traditional marketing manager and that the role was more suited to a young, enthusiastic individual who was up to date with recent developments in the industry, particularly new procurement routes. The role requires someone with good literacy and IT skills. The attraction of the placement position is that it gives us six months to assess the graduate for the permanent position.
What is your graduate involved in?
Fraser works in the Business development department where he is responsible for web content management (we have sent Fraser on a training course to give him the skills to carry out this function), compiling project data sheets for historical and current projects, preparing and submitting PQQs, and his role will develop as time goes by.
How is the graduate placement programme benefiting your organisation?
We now have a dedicated resource to improve our marketing literature and progress many aspects of the Business Development function. We are able to complete many more PQQs which is essential for the growth of our business.
