The SIMBIOS Centre

The SIMBIOS (Scottish Informatics Mathematics Biology and Statistics) Centre is a joint venture between the University of Dundee and University of Abertay Dundee in collaboration with the Scottish Crop Research Institute (SCRI).

The initiative has been funded by SHEFC (Scottish Higher Education Funding Council). The Centre itself links around 70 researchers, comprising those funded directly by SHEFC and co-workers in their groups.

Research is focused on the biomedical and life sciences and the SIMBIOS Centre has research sites at the University of Dundee (concentrating on mathematical biology and bioinformatics) and at the University of Abertay Dundee (concentrating on environmental-based research work).

Researchers connected with the SIMBIOS Centre have attracted over £4M in additional funding since its formation in April 2000.
