Scotland Heads For BioEurope
04 November 05
Scottish Bio-tech companies, with the support of Scottish Development International, will have a strong presence at this year's BIO-Europe conference in Dresden.
Scotland also strongly features on the programme with presentations from companies including Scottish Biomedical.
The development of the bio-technology industry has been gathering momentum globally in recent years, and Scotland has not only kept pace, but has proven itself to be a world leader with a globally facing, sustainable bio-tech sector. Scotland's bio-tech industry has grown at an average of 28% over the last 4 years compared with 15% in the rest of Europe.
BIO-Europe focuses on developing partnerships between international decision makers in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and financial sector.
Simon Bury, Business Development Director, Scottish Biomedical, commented:
"Since Bio-Europe is one of the largest partnering related conferences that takes place in the bio-tech sector, it presents a perfect opportunity to not only meet with potential collaborators and partners, but also to demonstrate our capabilities to those who perhaps aren't already familiar with us. It is also fantastic to see such strength of presence at the event from Scottish companies."
David Smith, Director Field Operations, EMEA, Scottish Development International, added:
"Scotland's strong presence at BIO-Europe is testament to the exciting and innovative climate within the Life Sciences sector in Scotland. Global companies, such as Intercell (Austria) and Viragen (US) already located in Scotland, are attracted by the highly skilled and qualified workforce, first class research facilities and the wealth of experience in the sector."
