Relocating to Scotland
"I am trying to obtain information concerning relocating to Scotland.
I am a German citizen who is married to an American citizen. I understand I would require no visa or work permit. Would my husband? I am pursueing my nursing degree and my spouse is obtaining his Masters in Library Science. Would we have problems securing employment?"
REPLY You are correct - as the citizen of an EEA country, you will be entitled to work in the UK without the need for a work permit.
European laws also allow non EEA national family members to enter and work in the UK. Such family members, however, must apply for an EEA family permit before they enter the UK to be able to come into the UK and work. An EEA family member permit can be obtained, free of charge, from your nearest British Embassy. For further information on EEA permits visit the UK Visas website
