2,000 Scottish jobs boost for Grangemouth refinery

Finance Secretary John Swinney welcomed an announcement that will secure more than 2,000 Scottish jobs and boost long term profitability of the Grangemouth oil refinery.
Welcoming the joint announcement between INEOS and PetroChina, Mr Swinney said:
"Scotland has unrivalled energy resources and expertise, and the Scottish Government is committed to working with China across this sector.
"The Grangemouth refinery is a strategic asset for Scotland and this announcement represents good news for Scottish jobs, as well as an increased sharing of technology and expertise.
"This Joint Venture enhances security of supply for customers and retains the jobs and skills that have been built up over many years at Grangemouth.
"Today's agreement demonstrates the growing relationship between Scotland and China. We will continue to identify merging opportunities to share information, expertise and technology between our two countries."
