Bringing your pets

While making the move to Scotland, as well as your family and personal possessions you may also have a family pet that you need to bring with you.

Scotland follows the UK immigration rules on bringing pets into the country and different rules apply depending on where you begin your travels.

You should find out whether pets are allowed in your accommodation, as this is unlikely in halls of residence.

If you hope to flat share or lodge with a family there may also be restrictions.

As a student you'll have a heavy workload of study and may not be in a position to give your pet the time and attention you would like to.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) provides advice on bringing pets to the UK.
