British citizenship

If you're over 18 and have been living in the UK for the last five years (or three if you're married to or a civil partner of a British citizen) you may be able to apply for naturalisation as a British citizen.

However, you must have 'Indefinite Leave to Remain' and have held this for at least one year to be considered.

Visit the UK Border Agency website for more on British citizenship

You'll need to be able to demonstrate your knowledge of language and life in the UK.

The 'Life in the UK' test consists of 24 multiple choice questions based on the information in the handbook 'Life in the UK: a Journey to Citizenship'.
