Flexlife's Plans to More than Double Workforce
03 January 10
North East oil service company flexlife has set up its first dedicated research and development (R&D) centre.
The move is part of expansion plans which will see the firm more than double its workforce in the next couple of years, while also opening other operational bases internationally.
The flexible-pipe specialist has taken on R&D premises at Aberdeen Science and Energy Park. The 1,500 square-foot base at the Energy Development Centre comes as flexlife also expands into extra office space at its Bucksburn headquarters.
The company is now occupying all of the 3,000sq ft office space, compared with the 1,500sq ft it used before.
Flexlife has grown from a team of just eight 12 months ago to more than 20 people to service various major integrity-management contracts with operators in the North Sea and internationally, including Hess, Apache North Sea and Statoil.
The new R&D centre includes office and workshop space and represents an investment of £500,000 over five years.
