Universities and colleges

There are two major universities in central Scotland

University of Stirling

The University of Stirling was Scottish University of the Year for 2009/2010 (Sunday Times) and is consistently ranked best in the UK for 'a good place to be'.

With over 80 nationalities represented on campus, 14 percent of their students are from overseas.

There are over 70 taught postgraduate programmes, plus research opportunities across 19 departments.

University of St Andrews

St Andrews is Scotland's first university and the third oldest in the English-speaking world, founded in 1413.

Over six centuries it has established a reputation as one of Europe's leading and most distinctive centres for teaching and research.

The National Student Survey 2010 has named Scotland’s first university as one of the country’s leading multi-faculty universities. 

Ninety three percent of St Andrews final year students surveyed in spring 2010 gave the University top marks for the quality of the learning and teaching experience.
