Schools

There are over 200 primary and secondary education establishments in Glasgow alone

The surrounding areas fall under different councils.

Universities and colleges

Further and higher education is well provided for in the region including several colleges as well as smaller learning centres.  There a four universities in Glasgow and Strathclyde

University of Glasgow

The University is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of leading UK research universities.
There are various opportunities to study a range of subjects including

  • College of Medical Veterinary and Life Sciences
  • College of Arts

The main campus is set in historical buildings in Glasgow's west end with The Crichton Centre for Research in Health and Social Issues based in Dumfries.

The Dumfries campus is shared with the University of the West of Scotland, and Dumfries and Galloway College.

Facilities include a new purpose-built library and a networked IT suite complete with multi-lingual word processing and language learning programmes.

There are excellent student support services and sports and recreation facilities and a refectory.

Glasgow Caledonian University

Glasgow Caledonian University has become one of the largest universities in Scotland with nearly 17,000 students. The campus is self–contained and situated right in the heart of the city of Glasgow.

The University is made up of six academic schools in the areas of business, health and science and technology.

Caledonian Business School has a fine reputation for developing innovative programmes in areas such as Risk Management, E-Business and International Fashion Marketing. The schools contain state-of-the-art laboratories and a number of renowned centres of excellence.

University of Strathclyde

It's over 210 years since Professor John Anderson's legacy established what is now the University of Strathclyde. The main campus is in the city centre and the main departments are

Based in Paisley with four campuses across Ayr, Dumfries, Paisley and Hamilton, the West of Scotland University HQ is a short train journey from Glasgow city centre.

The GSA is a small, specialist and highly focused international creative community undertaking research at the highest levels.
