Aberdeen

For centuries Aberdeen has been the commercial centre for the whole of the North East. This is still the case today. The city boasts a compact and bustling city centre, a thriving, quality west end and a seemingly endless selection of high street stores.

It’s no wonder people come from as far afield as Scandinavia to shop in Aberdeen.

Union Street

Aberdeen's famous 'Granite Mile', Union Street, is the city’s main shopping hub and is the gateway to more than 800 shops. It is connected top many interesting streets that lead off it, packed with shops, boutiques and restaurants, giving Aberdeen a unique atmosphere.

Union Square Shopping Centre, Guild Street

The Union Square Shopping Centre is to the south of Union Street. It opened in October 2009 and cost over £250 million. The centre boasts over 60 stores, a retail park, a ten screen cinema, and a 203-bedroom hotel. The centre is bright, spacious and welcoming with a number of premium shops, restaurants and entertainment complexes including Apple, Boots and Hollister. It has more than 1700 parking spaces, open air and enclosed.

The central railway and bus stations are directly connected to Union Square providing links to all parts of Aberdeen and the surrounding area, plus most major cities in the UK. The ferry port is next door with services to the northern islands.

The Trinity Shopping Centre

The Trinity Shopping Centre is one of the oldest shopping centres in Aberdeen and holds more than 21 stores, including, Debenhams, Primark, Quiz Clothing, JD Sports and H Samuel. It sits at the midway point on Union Street and connects directly with Bridge Street and Union Square. It has a 500 space multi-storey car park.

The Merchant Quarter

Aberdeen’s Merchant Quarter is a fashionable part of the city and caters to shoppers looking for something that little bit different. The area is located between Union Square and Union Street; it has a variety of stores, including retro fashion outlets, a tattoo parlour and an independent music shop. The area has a good variety of quality restaurants, hotels and a selection of bars. The old Tivoli theatre is located here, and is currently going through a multi-million pounds refit.

The Bon Accord

The Bon Accord Shopping Centre opened in 1990 has over 50 stores including Boots, John Lewis, New Look, Next, Top Shop and River Island.

In 2009, Next opened its largest Scottish store (54,000 sq ft). Topshop/Topman opened a new flagship 16,000sq ft concept store and River Island also opened an 11,000sq ft store within the old Woolworths/Disney Store unit. All of these stores join new openings by Karen Millen, Oasis, Coast, Warehouse & Kurt Geiger to form Bon Accord's new central atrium. The centre is currently undergoing a major refurbishment.

The centre is to the north of Union Street connected through the St Nicholas Shopping Centre. The Bon Accord has its own car park with over 1500 spaces.

St Nicholas Shopping Centre

St Nicholas Centre, located off the east end of Union Street offers top brand shopping. With leading British retailers, such as The Body Shop, Curries, Miss Selfridges, the Central Post Office, Sainsbury & WH Smith, all your shopping needs are fulfilled.

St. Nicholas Centre is connected to the busiest shopping area in Aberdeen, the extension to Marks and Spencer and the arrival of Gap has encouraged more people to that part of town. The pedestrianisation and the positioning of seats in St. Nicholas Street have added to the attractiveness of the area and created a traffic free city centre focal point.
