Scottish Affairs Select Committee

The Scottish Affairs Select Committee are currently conducting an inquiry into ‘Immigration and Scotland’. The Committee are accepting written submissions until at least March 2018.

They are investigating the level of immigration required by Scotland and any particular sector needs that the country has. The Committee are also seeking to understand how immigration needs in Scotland differ to the rest of the United Kingdom and whether the current Immigration Rules can be improved on for individual migrants & for Scottish businesses. Finally, the committee are asking for thoughts on what kind of post-Brexit regime would work best in Scotland for EU citizens.

So far, the committee have had three sessions for hearing oral evidence on this matter. Written submissions have been made from various organisations including COSLA, NFU Scotland, Scottish Social Services Council and British Hospitality Association.
