Visa decision waiting times have increased for applications outside the UK

The Home Office has recently updated its estimated processing times for visa applications made from outside the UK for the skilled worker route.

This now states that skilled worker applications are currently taking on average 6 weeks to process from the point that they are submitted with supporting paperwork. The usual service standard is 3 weeks. Employers may wish to take account of these processing times when making plans in relation to recruitment of overseas workers. In addition, if these delays impact or delay the anticipated start date for a skilled worker, please contact TalentScotland or check UKVI guidance for details of how to report such changes through the sponsor management system.

Further details can be found on the Home Office website.

Employers should consult the Home Office website at the time of any applications to ensure that you have the up to date information as processing times can change.

Priority services for applications outside the UK remain suspended as the Home Office has diverted resources to visas relating to the situation in Ukraine. This also impacts the timing of applications and it should be factored into any recruitment plans.
