R Biomedical is a Scottish biomedical company specialising in research, development and commercialisation of regenerative medicine. The company focuses on procedures, protocols and reagents for somatic cell therapeutics with an emphasis on providing new cellular technology as a resource for genetic reprogramming. Specifically, R Biomedical derives human cells from tissue samples under strict ethical approval, which are optimised for regenerative medicine research.
Working closely with its academic partners at the University of Edinburgh, R Biomedical considers its patient volunteers to be equal partners in a search for new therapeutic regimes to ultimately find cures for otherwise incurable diseases.
R Biomedical was registered in 2006 and began trading in 2008 with the support of the Edinburgh Pre-Incubator Scheme (EPIS) at The University of Edinburgh. The company’s lab space is currently located at the ETTC Biospace, within the Kings Building campus of The University of Edinburgh.
