Scottish Lifesciences Association

The focus of the SLA is:

• Constant messaging of life sciences to the Scottish Government ensuring that we maintain our industry’s priority status. Specifics include ensuring that initiatives such as SMART Awards, SE Co-Investment & Venture Funds, R&D Tax Credits are maintained and further strengthened.
• Making industry’s voice heard and ensuring our environment is supportive and attractive for life science companies to do business in Scotland.
• Special Interest Groups formed around areas where the Scottish government is engaged such as human resources, intellectual property, diagnostics, regenerative medicine, early stage companies and finance.
• Opinion former events allowing focused groups to debate key issues with government bodies and other stakeholders.
• Flagship events: SLA event in February and the Scottish Lifesciences Expert forum and dinner in October.
• Access to expert advice/experience at all levels of business including start up, financing, growth, merger & acquisition, and exit strategies.
• Best practice advice and information sharing.
• Networking events with key policy makers such as the Life Sciences Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament.
• Informal networking events at the Edinburgh offices and around the country to introduce new members to the community and facilitate business to business interaction.
• Flow of information on industry news events with commentary.
• Reach through to Westminster issues and access to MPs in conjunction with other trade association colleagues in London.
