Semefab (Scotland) Ltd

Semefab was formed in 1986, we manufacture silicon chips and ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) to be used in the automotive, telecommunications, industrial, consumer and medical markets.

Semefab Scotland

Our product is either a tested wafer sold to ‘foundry’ customers or fabless chip companies or a tested packaged device sold to an original equipment manufacturer.

In the latter case, the assembly is subcontracted offshore, and the product is then brought back for final testing prior to shipment.

The original building was bought from General Instruments after the closure of their Glenrothes factory in 1986.

Semefab currently run a 4-inch silicon wafer fabrication plant.

Semefab is an independent subsidiary of Semelab Plc based in

Lutterworth, Leicestershire and roughly one third of our ‘foundry’ product is sold to our parent company.

Certified to ISO 9001:2000 in 2002, Semefab work to achieve a high standard of quality in their product.

This has won the company several prestigious awards, in most recent years the Queen’s Award for International Trade 2000, Investors in People.
