Our research ranges from fundamental biology through to biomedical and industrial applications. We offer a wide choice of taught degree programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The School includes more than 120 Principal Investigators, both academic teaching staff and independently-funded senior research fellows. Around 400 research assistants and research technicians work with these Principal Investigators. Some 90 administrative and technical staff support the School's academic activities.
The School offers a programme of support and development opportunities for early-career researchers (postgraduate and postdoctoral research staff and personal fellowship holders). We are committed to equality of opportunity and to supporting all of our staff and students in their professional development. We hold an Athena Swan Silver Award recognising our success at supporting women in scientific careers.
The School is based within the University's College of Science and Engineering.
