Labour Market & Brexit Review

The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has issued a call for evidence in relation to the position of European nationals within the UK labour market.

This follows on from the UK Government commissioning the MAC to advise on the economic and social impacts of the UK’s exit from the European Union and also on how the UK’s immigration system should be aligned with a modern industrial strategy.

The call for evidence is very broad ranging. It seeks evidence on the types of jobs EEA migrants perform in various sectors and what their skill levels are. It asks what impact a possible reduction in the availability of EEA migrants (whether occurring naturally or through policy) would have on employers and what impact a reduction in EEA migration would have on sectors/local areas and regions.

This call for evidence identifies the sort of information that the MAC will find most helpful to receive and details of how to submit evidence.

More information can be found on the Home Office website

The deadline for responses is currently 27 October 2017.
