Tier 1 Investor route Closure

Close

17/02/2022

The Home Office announced at 4pm on 17th February 2022 that the Tier 1 (Investor) visa route was to close to all new applicants with immediate effect.    The Tier 1 Investor route had enabled certain individuals who had £2M investment funds to invest in specific UK qualifying investments, the opportunity to apply for a visa to come to the UK.  This visa could then lead to settlement in the UK after 5 years.  Those who had more than £2M to invest could in some cases apply for settlement after 2 years or 3 years depending on the level of funds invested.

The decision to close this visa route came without advance notice of the proposed change.

Details of this decision are here:

Although this visa route has now closed, there are numerous other visa routes suitable for those who wish to come to the UK to set up a business or to invest or to work.    Some of these routes are explored in our alternative routes to sponsorship webinar – details to register are here: Options for Scottish employers recruiting international talent other than the Skilled worker route?
