EPP provides GLP compliant analytical, physico-chemical and environmental safety testing services in accordance with worldwide regulations such as OECD, ISO, and OPPTS to a diverse global client base seeking to obtain, or continue to hold, governmental approval to sell their formulated products.

EPP is a GLP compliant Contract Research Organization (CRO), operating from two attractive research parks within Midlothian Science Zone near Edinburgh, Scotland (UK), supporting our contract clients operating in the global agrochemical, veterinary and human pharmaceutical, and industrial fine chemical markets.

EPP is a member of the UK GLP compliance programme (following inspection for compliance by the MHRA on behalf of the UK Department of Health). We mainly conduct analytical chemistry and physico-chemical testing studies (involving screening, synthetic, analytical and reporting steps) for GLP compliant 5 Batch analysis, physico-chemical testing and stability testing of agrochemicals though also environmental sciences testing (ecotoxicity and environmental fate) on veterinary pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals

Our main GLP test facility, owned by the company, is the 1000 square metre EPP Environmental Centre on Bush Estate, Penicuik in Midlothian, Scotland, U.K. which sits in a 3 acres site in an attractive woodland setting. This facility has a range of government licences including for radiochemical testing on carbon-14 and tritium labllled chemcials. We also have a smaller R&D synthetic chemistry unit at Pentlands Science Park, Penicuik which houses our GLP compliant Bruker 500 MHz NMR spectrometer.

Our experienced staff work across three core business areas [GLP Analytical and Screening, GLP Environmental Sciences, and Custom Synthesis / Research and Development (R&D)] in a synergistic and efficient manner to achieve our business aims.

With 27 years’ experience in business (the company was incorporated in 1992), EPP offers an excellent level of customer service and satisfaction to our clients, combining scientific expertise with precise and effective project management and communication.

The company possesses globally recognised expertise in the analysis, identification, separation and custom synthesis of manufacturing impurities present in technical grade agrochemicals or pharmaceuticals: in this respect, LC-MS-MS and / or GC-MS analytical studies are routinely followed by custom synthesis or physical separation to generate in-house certified analytical reference standards of impurities for use in GLP studies (as part of the regulatory approval process) or QC activities. In addition, the synthesis of stable isotopes of active principles, related impurities and metabolites is undertaken.

EPP also conducts contract process research, development and optimization of manufacturing processes. This is extended to trial and routine (kilo scale) contract manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API's), and intermediates, for use in non-clinical applications.

EPP’s facilities house an extensive range of synthetic, analytical and small-scale manufacturing equipment and instrumentation. Our in-house analytical instrumentation includes GLP compliant Bruker 500 MHz NMR spectrometer, Thermo LC-MS-MS (x4), Agilent and Thermo GC-MS (x3), Agilent HPLC (x10), Dionex IC, Agilent GC, Nicolet FT-IR, Beckman UV, and Mitsubishi Karl-Fischer. In support of literature searching, EPP has web-based access to advanced chemical search engines (eg SciFinder ®) and databases.
