TMRI Ltd was established in 2006 to capitalise on Scotland's strength as a major centre for translational medicine and to provide an access point for large scale collaborations and projects.

TMRI Ltd is the principal delivery and exploitation vehicle for the Scottish Translational Medicine Research Collaboration (TMRC), which supports translational medicine research projects involving the Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, in collaboration with the associated NHS Health Boards. TMRI Ltd will administer £50M of funding for TMRC projects over five years, supported primarily by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and Scottish Enterprise.

TMRI Ltd also exploits the Intellectual Property outputs (primarily in the field of diagnostic applications) from TMRC projects.

To date, the progress of TMRC has been phenomenal; with a committed spend of over £23M to approximately 65 active research projects and a strong pipeline of potential (IP) products that are being developed across the Collaboration.
